Legendary music photographer Paul Natkin joins me to share a few stories and some behind the scenes secrets of a life on the road with the world’s biggest acts. He talks a lot about his beloved Rolling Stones and other rock notables. This one was a whole lot of fun.

Chicago’s foremost music photographer. His first collection of concert and backstage portraits, Natkin: Moment of Truth, will be released next month.

Since the 1970s, Natkin has photographed most of the major music stars of the last half of the 20th century, shooting album covers for Ozzy Osbourne and Johnny Winter and countless magazine covers, including Newsweek, People, Spin and Ebony.

Despite building a reputation as one of America’s most sought-after music photographers, Natkin claims his success is due to simply “being in the right place at the right time.” Since 1978, Natkin has been the sole live photographer choice for 20th century music icons such as Prince, Madonna, The Beastie Boys, and Mick Jagger.

The son of a photojournalist, Paul’s career flourished in the heyday of rock and roll as he traveled from show to show, documenting both rising stars and icons of the music industry. As a true music fan, Natkin’s passion and workmanlike approach to his trade has made him the photographer to the stars over a four-decade career. He was the official touring photographer for the Rolling Stones and the only photographer allowed into Prince’s 26th birthday party. He continues to attend shows and shoot portraits at his studio on Chicago’s north side.
